The inspiration for these works stems from the artist's choice to use images of protests resulting from political conflicts over the past 18 years as the foundation. He views these images, widely circulated on the internet, as a form of historical record that reflects the pain caused by differing opinions, division, and loss. These events have led him to worry about the future stability of life for his family. He channeled these feelings into creating works that depict instability, anxiety, and the struggle to exist amidst the ruins of a crumbling sense of justice. The creative process involves using computer software to isolate the light and shadow components of the images, then assembling them into a structure based on artistic composition principles. This composition is printed onto the lowest layer of canvas. On the subsequent layers, he painted an image of a child (his own) using oil paint on translucent fabric, rendering the image in three dimensions to convey the fragility of life trapped in a deteriorating and unstable environment that all humans must face. Through aesthetic expression, his work seeks to explore the beauty in searching for balance in life amid uncertainty and instability.
