Founded in 1967 in the heart of Tokyo, Whitestone Gallery is one of the pioneering galleries in Japan. The gallery presents works of significance by modern and contemporary Japanese artists including the Gutai Art Association members. With the opening of the Karuizawa New Art Museum in 2012, the gallery saw an exciting new development. The museum is used for a series of innovative Japanese Modern and Contemporary Art exhibitions, as well as public programs and educational activities. In 2015, the gallery`s first overseas operation opened in Hong Kong aiming to introduce a roster of living Gutai artists and Contemporary Japanese artists to an international audience and to create a dialogue of exchange between Japan and the rest of the world. Whitestone Gallery’s Taipei space opened in April 2017 and has since hosted numerous major exhibitions featuring international artists. In 2023, the gallery continued its global expansion with the official openings of its Singapore, Beijing, and Seoul spaces. Whitestone Gallery remains committed to fostering collaborations with outstanding international artists and promoting dialogue between East and West.
