Yuta Okuda

After studying fashion design in Japan and England, Okuda Yuta embarked on a career as a designer for the fashion brand TAKEO KIKUCHI. In 2016, he transitioned to the world of art and has since been actively involved in both solo and group exhibitions across Japan, steadily advancing his career through ongoing creative output and presentation.

Initially known for his intricate works characterised by meticulously calculated lines, Okuda Yuta later shifted his focus to exploring the theme of "flowers," embracing a sense of "serendipity" in his art. His floral creations, vibrant and striking in their use of colour, feature delicately rendered petals. Though the flowers do not adhere to realistic depiction, they evoke a strong, playful image. Okuda himself notes that his flowers need not look exactly like real ones; their abstract nature reflects a deeper, more personal resonance.

The motifs in his work are inspired by childhood memories, which he revisited during a period of personal reflection. The coronavirus pandemic, which highlighted the extraordinary nature of the everyday, led him to approach his art with a new perspective of gratitude. This thematic shift towards flowers symbolising thankfulness marks a significant evolution in his artistic journey.
