Youngji LEE(b.1975~, Korea) is one of the most respected and beloved artists in the Korean contemporary art scene. There is something special in the work of Lee, although it is ordinary. With time and sincerity, she draws tens of thousands of leaves like grains of rice to complete the tree and draws birds singing and flying around it. ‘Tree’ has long been an important part of Lee’s art. Lee's tree is particularly fresh and full of vitality. It feels as if the goddess of spring has just sown the energy of life. Lee worked on each leaf with a lot of devotion like a craftsman, but just as glorious joy is always accompanied by sadness, each leaf tells a story of its own, revealing its presence. In this respect, Lee’s work may be a painting that implies our lives. It is a story that we spent a lot of time looking for happiness, but in the end our little life was happiness.
