Taiwanese artist Hong Yi transcends the traditional definitions of artists that many people hold. With a passion for art, she walks her own path toward her artistic dreams, using innovative thinking to integrate art more diversely with industry.
Hong Yi believes that historians write history based on the traces left by humanity; they are not inventors. It is the creators who are the true inventors. Considering the thousands of years of Eastern culture, we must confront our own culture and the nutrients our environment has infused into our very blood. Facing oneself is crucial, as it allows for genuine self-reflection. Utilizing her keen observation and sensitivity, Hong Yi infuses the unique ethnicities, cultures, vocabulary, customs, and aesthetic concepts of Taiwan into her three-dimensional canvases—her painted sculptures—drawing from her life experiences.
Hong Yi has been exploring art for 20 years. In 2020, the 'Hong Yi Art Museum' was established in Changhua. He hopes to integrate industry with art in the future, carrying the artistic essence of Taiwanese culture to the world, allowing the world to see Taiwan through an artistic lens. He aims to realize the concept of 'art in everyday life, life in art,' and to achieve 'localization is globalization.
