Tsai Wei-Cheng, born in 1971 in Taichung, Taiwan, has dedicated the past two decades to exploring the classic character Sun Wukong from Journey to the West as the subject of his work. His artistic practice combines humor with a restrained sculptural language, offering a unique interpretation of Eastern philosophical principles and gaining significant international recognition. At ART Taipei 2024, Tsai will unveil two new sculptures, Intention and Perspective, continuing his Reality is Not What It Seems series. This series not only employs typographic expression but also delves into its true meaning through phonetics and semantics, guiding viewers to uncover the essence of life.
