His theme is the changing ecosystem, inspired from the satoyama of his homeland, Miyazaki, Kyusyu.
He expresses that more impressively with various small creatures, using acrylic on the leaf. He tells the changing environment by painting foreign and native species, sometimes together on canvas and sometimes divided. And the Rinpa school style, an old painting method using the leaf from the Edo era, shows the Japanese tradition, and the modern acrylic tells the innovation, according to his words “Well traditionally and well contemporarily”
Recently, he started to paint abstract works keeping his style above. They show the decaying artificial object in the satoyama landscape.
Not only as an artist, but he is also active in other fields. He recently made a debut as a movie director. The documentary movie "TOHO Shiotsuki" is his first work that focuses on an old Japanese artist who has a deep relation with Taiwan.
