Artist Sung-Pil Chae explores the theme of "The Space of Earth and Soil," delving into the primal essence of land and nature’s cycles of creation and renewal. His boldly monochromatic works serve as a visual metaphor for the grand drama played out by the earth, sea, and sky since the dawn of time. On large canvases, Chae pours natural pigments derived from the earth—shades of brown, blue, and green—before sweeping across them with a large, specially designed brush resembling a broom, and adding water to create spontaneous effects. Known as the "Artist of Soil," Chae earned his degrees at Seoul National University before moving to Paris to study plastic arts. His distinctive style quickly gained recognition in Europe, where he has built a prominent artistic presence. Today, he continues to exhibit widely across Europe and internationally, earning acclaim for his profound artistic vision.
