For Moemi Yamamoto, dreams are an inspiring part of life and a kind of refuge. The graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague lets the viewer see into the hidden life of the subconscious in her narrative paintings. A special timelessness, immobility and a compulsive feeling of alienation are typical for them. The unique visual mode combines Japanese parallel perspective and Gothic stylization and leads to a symbolic reading. Although the paintings depict dreams, they are a reaction to our world and tell more about it than it might seem at first glance. Her cabinets resemble historical cabinets of curiosities and each item symbolizes a different story that the dival can interpret according to their experiences.
