Born in 1985 in Abiko City, Chiba Prefecture. Graduated from the Graduate School of Fine Arts at Tokyo University of the Arts.
After completing his studies at the Graduate School of Fine Arts at Tokyo University of the Arts, Yamawaki Kosuke has actively participated in numerous exhibitions both in Japan and abroad. In recent years, he has been involved in group exhibitions alongside renowned artists such as Moriyama Daido and Gokita Tomoo. One of his large-scale works, over two meters in size, was publicly displayed in the “HOKKAIDO BALLPARK F VILLAGE,” which includes the new stadium of the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters.
Yamawaki’s works, which seem to fill the canvas, are characterised by flowing brushstrokes reminiscent of calligraphy. These strokes, combined with detailed depictions of fur and sharp eyes, evoke the rich expressions of the animals he portrays. The gaze of these animals, which seem to stare intently at the viewer, often creates the sensation that the observer is, in fact, the one being observed.
