Kensuke Okabe was born in Osaka in 1990.
He makes full use of a new material called jesmonite to create never-before-seen sculptures.
It was after graduating from university that Kensuke Okabe aspired to become an artist. At university, he attended a sculpture course and mastered the use of various materials such as FRP and metal according to the work he produced each time.
Kensuke Okabe bases his expression on his viewing experience.
He says, ``There are times when I can't take my eyes off the work when I'm looking at it. I consider the moment when I am fascinated to the point where I can't move, as a kind of magic.
Kensuke Okabe refines his modeling by researching various facial features that are familiar to citizens, such as familiar public icons (Kewpie dolls, etc.) and historical statues of Yakushi Nyorai.
Kensuke Okabe says, "Precisely because we live in an era where information is overflowing, I think that obvious things will strike a chord with people's emotions. Reflecting my own experiences will increase clarity, rather than complex concepts."
The more Kensuke Okabe's own existence, thoughts, and experiences are displayed in his work, the more it becomes a strong centripetal force, leading to the creation of the power to fascinate people beyond language and culture. . There is no clear word about his work, and many people are drawn to his work just by his appearance. Perhaps the ideals that Okabe saw when he started his career as an artist are beginning to emerge. An experience that can be enchanted in an instant slowly spreads out from Okabe's work.
