Gabriela Medvedova, born in 1965 in Dunajska Streda, Slovakia, holds a master's degree in art from the Bratislava School of Art in Slovakia and the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. In 1998, she became a member of the Wiener Künstlerhaus in Vienna and held a solo exhibition, "Objects in Light," at the Wiener Künstlerhaus exhibition hall in 2000. In 2005, she participated in the 7th International Festival of Art in Porto San Elpidio, Italy. In 2008, she held a solo exhibition, "Lines, Structures, Shapes in Light," at the Slovak Institute Gallery in Warsaw, Poland. She has also held numerous solo exhibitions in private galleries in Germany, Austria, Slovakia, and Romania.
She has received several awards, including the National Competition Prize in Liberec, Czech Republic (1982), the first prize at Palfyho palác in Bratislava, Slovakia (1989), the Irene & Peter Ludwig Prize from the Wiener Künstlerhaus (2002), and the Special Gold Prize at the San Crispino International Art Award in Italy (2005). In 2010, she was a member of the UNESCO Committee Regional Council in Vienna. Dr. Manfred Wagner described her work as follows: "Light is the central theme for this artist. Through stripes, geometric shapes, and transparent backgrounds (white), she presents a specific 'image' quality, an almost indescribable phenomenon of constantly changing light."
At Art Taipei, Gabriela Medvedova's paintings from 2002 will be showcased. She utilizes acrylic and fluorescent paints, composing with lines and colors to present the phenomenon of light.
