Lin Chang-Hu was born in 1955 in Tucheng, New Taipei City.
Lin holds a Master's degree in Fine Arts from National Taiwan Normal University and a Ph.D. from the School of Fine Arts at the Central Academy of Fine Arts. He is also a Fellow of the Taiwan Academy of Fine Arts and an advisor to the Ho Chuang-Shih Calligraphy Foundation.
He has held various academic positions, including serving as the head of the Department of Fine Arts and dean of the College of Fine Arts at Taipei National University of the Arts, and as an adjunct professor at the Department of Fine Arts at National Taiwan Normal University. He has also served as a judge for county and city art exhibitions, national art exhibitions, the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall Art Award, the Sun Yat-sen Art Creation Award, and the National Award for Arts.
His personal exhibitions of paintings and calligraphy have been featured in various county and city cultural centers, public fine arts museums, the Chester Beatty Library in Ireland, Xizhitang Gallery, Taiwan Soka Association, National Tainan Living Art Center, and Chung-Shan National Gallery, among others.
His works have been exhibited overseas in cities such as Dublin, Tokyo, Seoul, Singapore, New York, Washington D.C., San Francisco, Johannesburg, Canberra, Sai Kung, Kaifeng, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Nanjing, Hangzhou, and Hong Kong.His artwork is part of public collections in art museums both nationally and internationally and is also held in private collections.
He has been honored with awards such as the National Award for Arts (in the higher education category), the Minister of Education Award for Fine Arts, the Youth Artist Award by the Wu Zuoren International Foundation of Fine Arts, and the Golden Goblet Award from the Art Society of China.
