Lin Pao-Ling was born in 1981 in Taipei and graduated from the Ink and Wash Group of the Master of Fine Arts Program of the National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU). Lin's works are known for their mysterious and romantic night scenes. His “Snow Country” series, which he began to create in 2020, depicts the view of a small village lit up from the mountains of Niigata, Japan. He uses theatrical light to break away from the inherent colors of the scenery, and uses cool colors such as blue, purple, and silver to create an aura of nature that resembles ink-play landscapes. It shows the artist's pursuit of light and shadow as well as the warmth of his heart, full of poetic imagination. In addition to his dreamy and realistic depictions of spectacular landscapes, the artist has also been quietly working on the “Guy without a Name” series, which symbolizes himself. Each piece of artwork with the figure of a little guy is a writing of his life experience, through which he expresses his loneliness, helplessness and perseverance in life.
