Born in Taichung, Taiwan.
Graduated from the Western Painting Section, Graduate Institute of Fine Arts, Tunghai University, Ying-Hsi LIAO creates her artworks under the concept of “Human Genes.” To carry out the theme of life vividly and softly, she uses amoeba-like marks, through the way of wandering, combining and stacking. Contrast cold and hard metal materials with gentle and meaningful themes, presenting the tenderness and perseverance of willpower.
While transiting traditional elements into contemporary works, She tries to fascinate her audience with the subjects they’ve already been familiar with, yet so much different from the existing impression they have from the tradition. These ideas are all through her life experiences and the observations of the culture and the life people live on this piece of land.
On the whole, LIAO integrates love, sophistication, and imagery of past, present and future. With common language expressions and modern artistic skills, LIAO let her works speak her own passion to the world.
