Ying-Fan Chen has been engaged in illustration and children's book creation for a long time, producing a rich body of work and also working in ceramics. In her desire to express her emotions without being confined to the form of illustrated books and to explore the possibilities of visual language, she began creating semi-abstract and abstract works. Her painting and exhibitions are based on the premise of direct viewing of the original works.
In Ying-Fan's paintings, you will find small white animals: white birds, white rabbits, or white horses, flying and galloping in the landscapes. Sometimes these landscapes are familiar, like the sky, water surfaces, or landforms. Other times, they are composed of colorful lights and shadows, creating scenes imagined in dreams.
When you look into the paintings, some of the white animals may disappear, becoming white spots of light. At that moment, your gaze takes you, becoming the white animals, and you enter the painting.
