''Artist Introduction - Wei-Fan LAI''
Born on December 31, 1984, Wei-Fan LAI graduated from the Department of Fine Arts at Taichung University of Education in 2007 and continued his studies at the European Comics School in France in 2011.
Upon returning to Taiwan from France in 2014, he engaged in various creative fields, focusing on design-related works such as illustration, streetwear design, freelance projects, comic design, and furniture design. In 2019, he transitioned to full-time creation and teaching, establishing his own "Art Space Studio."
As a "stationery enthusiast," he primarily uses Western media in his creations and enjoys collecting various drawing tools and materials. His artistic process involves exploring themes of current interest and selecting media accordingly, leading to a continuous exploration of different styles and media.
His works often feature cool color tones, a habit possibly influenced by color theory learned during his studies in France, which he appreciates for the tranquil atmosphere these colors can evoke.
During his time at the professional school in France, scenes were integral to courses in illustration, comics, and animation, although they were often overlooked by general audiences. This led Wei-Fan Lai to invest more time in scene painting within his team, emphasizing that while stories often revolve around characters, a solitary space can also narrate a compelling tale.
