Kang Dong Hyun graduated from Changwon University's Graduate School of Sculpture and is currently a lecturer for the Korean Professional Artist Association, the National Sculpture Association, the So Sculpture Association, the Kyungnam Sculptors Association, the Changwon Art Association, and Changwon University. In addition, he has won Best and Special Selection in the Seongsan Art Competition, the Grand Prize, and two Special Selections in the Gyeongsangnam-do Art Competition, the Central Art Competition, the Special Selection of the Modern Art Competition, and the Seoul Contemporary Sculpture Competition.
In 2022, he held his first solo exhibition in Taiwan, which included works such as the cello, elephant, and deer. In this exhibition, "Four Seasons—Forest of Coexistence" is a continuation of his large-scale sculpture series made of stainless steel, which uses welding techniques to transform metal lines into three-dimensional circular figures. The glossy stainless steel and the PU coating interlace reality and imagination when viewed under light, thus portraying Kang Dong Hyun’s works with strong vitality. Kang Dong Hyun's work illustrates the relationship between different species as well as the cohesiveness of life. He states that "life on Earth is linked by an invisible rope, intertwining with one another." Through combining the fragility of living things with the sturdiness of metal, he creates exquisite silhouettes that direct our attention toward environmental protection.
