Samuel Chen is a Singaporean painter known for his representational works and philosophical approach to art. He studied at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts and LASALLE College of the Arts before pursuing further education at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts in Russia. Chen's artistic journey began as a teenager when he discovered drawing during a difficult period in his life. His practice explores themes of history, society, and individual agency, often focusing on everyday scenes imbued with deep emotion. Chen's recent work, including his "Home" series, showcases his skill in capturing light and texture while reflecting on personal experiences and cultural contrasts.
