Since elementary school, Riki Antoni has been passionate about drawing, often representing his school in competitions. While at the High School of Fine Arts (1992-1995), he painted a pair of shoes featuring a Mentawai figure, marking the start of his blend of reality and imagination. This period also saw him painting doll characters with large eyes. His subjects, merging reality with imagination, have remained central to his work. In 1996, he continued his education at the Indonesia Institute of Art Yogyakarta, where he learned to express his soul through painting. His work often features humans, plants, and animals to convey life values. Antoni's paintings, characterized by large-eyed children, symbolize honesty and hope. He uses oil paint to create harmonious and emotionally expressive works, viewing his studio as a laboratory for his creative process.
