Ming-Nong is passionate about ceramics, oil painting, and illustration. His works celebrate nature, integrating Western techniques with local elements, and employing a multi-media approach. As a child, he loved temple fairs and was attracted to the vibrant contrasting colors, which he later expressed in his carvings and oil paintings of deities. His studio is by the Tamsui River, where fishing boats, fish, and egrets provide inspiration for his works. Each piece appears effortlessly crafted, yet involves meticulous planning. His ceramics retain much of the clay’s natural color and malleability, with his ceramic fish series rich in poetic and Zen-like qualities. Additionally, his proficiency in oil painting translates seamlessly to the creation of glazed ceramic panels, making his work stand out from that of typical ceramic artists.
