Artist Kuo-Fong Chiu creates his works with a special style. He traditionally creates his “ink paintings” with “water” and “ink” to show the reflection and reproduction of their spirituality. He also uses the ink lines of a writing brush or the color lines of a ballpoint pen to position the outline and texture of an object to show the macroscopic layout and composition of his paintings. He then coats his works and fills in colors on his sketches with a ballpoint pen or marker pen to delicately outline mountains and draw leaves with circle painting or moss dots with dot painting. Finally, he carefully finishes his works by writing the time and place of his creation and signing his name with a writing brush and by stamping. This shows that the artist has broken through the framework of general materials. Meanwhile, his paintings start from the angle of art history, which serves as the core of his works. There is a reason for it: he follows the examples of quite a few artists. He tries to integrate the two seemingly opposing, two-way issues such as ancient times/modern times, tradition/innovation, scholars/ common people and ink painting/new media to unfold his life in the world.
