Japanese-Chinese artist Yo Keiso's work centers around her interest in observing
"life" and enjoying the various discoveries that she incorporates into her work. In
the early days, Yo Keiso's works focused on internal organs and body parts,
which touched her identity as a Chinese immigrant in Japan. In recent years,
she has begun to develop her work from the theme of plants, taking the form of
roadside weeds. The artist realizes that there is a strong connection between
our lives and the plants around us, and she uses ceramics to create works that
overlap the wildflowers and grasses that bloom in the city with the type and
fate of people, documenting their growth process and encounters, through
which she hopes to explore the relational nature of life and experience living in
symbiosis with them.
