Born in 1992 in Daejeon, South Korea, Eve Suh is a young and emerging artist. The existential grief that Eve addresses in her sculptures is embodied by the disconnect between childhood imagination and reality. By employing ceramics as her medium — warm texture of color yet easily breakable; solid appearance but hollow inside — Eve skillfully captures the tension between illusion and frustration. She purposefully retains the hand-sculpted, raw texture and rough edges to illustrate how her vision of childhood aspirations failed to come true but did succeed in the art world she created.
Eve has participated in a variety of art residency programs, including those offered by the Kalakshetra Foundation in Chennai, India 2020; Marunuma Art Park in Japan 2023; and the Yingge Ceramics Museum in Taiwan 2019. In the same year in 2019, she was awarded the FRANZ Rising Star Project Award. Her works are held in collections at the SAAMOORAM in Seoul, Korea, Dakshina Chitra Museum and Kalakshetra Foundation in India, and Yingge Ceramics Museum in Taiwan.
