Known for her sculptures that are pure white, abstract, organic and elegant lines, Hus Chi
Hchi chooses to work with clay as her medium of choice. In the process of creation, from
practicing and rolling the clay, to molding, to firing and polishing, it is a dialogue
between the artist and herself and the environment. She believes that when one
encounters a weight in life that cannot be avoided, one can only carry it with the sinuous
lines at the corners of one's mouth and the tension on the surface that is supported by
one's inner being. The two arcs intersect to create infinite possibilities, and the flip of the
work is like a change in perspective, another possibility of unraveling. Different
perspectives take over the saturated light and shadow, rendering a multifarious luster,
which has a different appearance from every angle, leading the audience into her
carefully constructed world.
